Synergy Privacy Policy

Last updated 28 August 2026

Synergy is a shared calendar for families. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and who else can see it. It is written to describe what the app actually does rather than to cover every hypothetical.

The short version. Your calendar, to-dos, meals and messages are stored so they can sync between your devices and the people you share them with. We do not track you, show you ads, use analytics, or sell or share your information with anyone for advertising. Contacts you pick from never leave your phone.

Who we are

Synergy is operated by the developer of the Synergy app. For any privacy question, or to request deletion of your data, contact support@mysynergyapp.com.

What we collect

WhatWhy
Email address and passwordTo create and secure your account. Passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider and are never visible to us.
Display name, and optionally a phone number and profile photoSo the people you share with can recognise you. A phone number is only used so an existing friend can find you, and is only ever shown to people whose friend request you have accepted.
Content you create: events, to-dos, lists, meal plans, notes, messages, and any files you attachThis is the app. It is stored so it is on every device you sign in to and visible to anyone you share it with.
Events read from a calendar you connectTo show your Apple, Google or Outlook events alongside your family's. Connected calendars are read-only. Synergy never changes or deletes events in them.
Approximate location, only if you turn Weather onTo fetch the forecast for where you are. Your position is rounded to about a kilometre on your phone before it is sent, so it identifies an area rather than an address. We do not store it. It is passed to Apple Weather to get the forecast and then discarded.
Notification tokenTo send reminders and alerts to your device. Only if you turn notifications on.
Subscription statusTo know whether Personal+ features are unlocked. We never see your card details; Apple handles payment entirely.

Permissions the app asks for

Every one of these is optional. Declining any of them leaves the rest of the app working.

What we do not do

What other people can see

Sharing is the point of the app, so it is worth being precise:

Files you upload

Photos and documents you attach are stored at unique, unguessable web addresses. They are not listed anywhere and are not indexed by search engines, but anyone given the exact address could open the file. Bear that in mind before attaching something sensitive.

Services we rely on

ServiceWhat it handles
SupabaseHosts the database, accounts and uploaded files.
ApplePayments and subscriptions. Also address suggestions when you type a location: the text you type is sent to Apple Maps to return matches, and is not stored by us. If you turn Weather on, your approximate location is sent to Apple Weather to return a forecast, and is not stored by us either.
GoogleOnly if you connect a Google calendar: sign-in and reading your calendar events.
MicrosoftOnly if you connect Outlook: reading the calendar you chose to publish.
RevenueCatManages subscription status. Receives your account identifier and what you purchased, but not your name, email or content.
ExpoDelivers push notifications to your device.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your content for as long as your account exists. You can delete individual events, to-dos, messages, files and calendars at any time from inside the app, and deleting something removes it for everyone it was shared with.

You can delete your whole account from inside the app: Settings → Account → Delete my account. It is immediate and permanent. Your profile, events, to-dos, meals, messages, files, friend connections and any calendars you own are removed straight away, and calendars you own disappear for everyone you shared them with. There is no recovery. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis and fully cleared within 90 days.

Calendars other people shared with you stay with their owner. Events Synergy copied into your Apple or Google calendar remain there. Delete the calendar Synergy created if you want them gone. A paid subscription is billed by Apple and is not cancelled by deleting your account; cancel it in your Apple Account settings.

If you would rather we did it for you, email support@mysynergyapp.com from your account's address and we will action it within 30 days.

Children

Synergy is intended for adults organising a household. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If a child's details have been added by a parent as part of a family calendar, that content belongs to the parent's account and is deleted with it. If you believe a child has created their own account, contact us and we will remove it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Access to your content is enforced per-account at the database level, so one account cannot read another's data even if it asks. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell affected users promptly if a breach ever puts their data at risk.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing the address above. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to object to processing or to complain to a data protection regulator.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that materially affects you, we will update the date at the top and let you know in the app before the change takes effect.
